Windows 10 reservation
It is believed that lots of users reserved Windows 10 via the Get Windows 10 app which is located at the lower right corner of the screen. Among these users, some have upgraded to Windows 10, and some hesitate to do the upgrade just like Devin:
I reserved my free copy of Windows 10 using the Get Windows 10 app, but now I think I might wait for a moment to see what the response is from the public before the upgrade. And my question is: can I reserve Windows 10 again after canceling the previous reservation?
After testing this on my own computer, I found I can reserve Windows 10 again via the Get Windows 10 app at any time though I have canceled the reservation for 3 times. But note: Microsoft just offers 1 year free upgrade service, which means you will miss the free upgrade if you perform the upgrade after July 29, 2016. And once the upgrade is completed successfully, you can do reinstallation as many times as you want without requiring a license key, unless hardware configuration has changes a lot. Next, we will introduce some tips on upgrading Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.
3 Tips are shown below:
1.Before doing the upgrade, please backup both system and important data. You can use Windows built-in Backup and Restore function to make a backup for Windows or directly create an image for system. Of course, you can also use MiniTool Partition Wizard to create a backup for all your important files, including both Windows and user data. To get detailed steps, please see Copy Disk.
2.During the process of upgrading, you may receive the error message “We couldn’t update the system reserved partition”. Don’t worry about it, because we have solutions. For details, please see 2 Solutions to Windows 10 Upgrade Couldn’t Update System Reserved Partition Error.
3.If there is no much free space left in drive C, you can extend it by borrowing free space from other partitions or unallocated space on the same disk. Steps are as follows:
Step 1: start and launch MiniTool Partition Wizard to get its main interface:
Step 2: select drive C and choose “Extend Partition” function from the left side.
Step 3: choose an existing partition or unallocated space to take free space, and then click “OK”.
Step 4: click “Apply”, “Yes”, and “Restart Now” to make all changes performed in boot mode.
Now users would be clear of free Windows 10 reservation service as well as tips on upgrading to Windows 10 now. And we hope this post is useful for you.
